the TOK course (first assessment 2022)
AOKs: all requiredThe Areas of Knowledge are all compulsory and include Mathematics, History, Arts, Natural and Human Sciences. Indigenous and Religious knowledge are still included as one of the optional themes. Ethics is now integrated into the knowledge framework and is meant to be discussed in relation to each AOK.

The New Knowledge Framework
|
The knowledge framework becomes an even more central aspect of the course. Knowledge Questions are explored in relation to each aspect of the framework when exploring the AOKs and Themes.
|
Knowledge Questions
Knowledge questions remain central to the course, but now instead of being required to formulate knowledge questions, students are asked to engage with knowledge questions immediately - The TOK Guide includes hundreds of knowledge questions related to each AOK and Knowledge Theme related to an aspect of the knowledge framework. Here I have compiled them into one easy document

TOK Essay Titles
The essay titles will require discussion of two Areas of Knowledge, as we have seen already in this year's 2021 titles. From 2022 onward, the titles may also stipulate specific AOKs, now that all AOKs are required. The titles are already clearer, more accessible and get to the heart of concepts we are already teaching and discussing.

Knowledge & the Knower is a core theme that runs throughout the course. Links to personal knowledge now becomes part of this core theme, and the questions explored in the core get to the heart of knowing who we are as knowers.
Schools can choose two of the Optional Themes including:
Knowledge + Language
Knowledge + Politics
Knowledge + Technology
Knowledge + Religion

Exhibition
The Exhibition replaces the Presentation - no more RLS, no more TKPPD, I see all of this as a good thing. However, the exhibition is also a written piece of work, thus putting more emphasis on good quality written analysis. I'm working my way through the 35 TOK Exhibition prompts in conversations with colleagues in TOK Talk podcast.
